# Sport rules and injury care both count.

Wanting to get back is easy to understand. The recovery claim still has to hold up, and the sport rules still apply.

## The restriction follows the substance off the field

The [2026 World Anti-Doping Agency list](https://www.wada-ama.org/sites/default/files/2025-09/2026list_en_final_clean_september_2025.pdf)
bans BPC-157 and TB-500 at all times. For athletes covered by these rules, that includes time away from competition. A break from playing is not a break from these rules.

A ban also does not prove that a substance helps recovery. It is a rule about what is allowed in sport. The missing evidence about human muscle injury stays missing, however often the ban is offered as proof that a peptide must work.

The [National Collegiate Athletic Association’s 2026–27 list](https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/ssi/substance/2026-27/2026-27NCAA_BannedSubstances.pdf)
names both too. College sport has its own rules. The [2027 world list takes over on January 1, 2027](https://www.wada-ama.org/sites/default/files/2026-09/2027list_en_final_clean_26_august_2026_2.pdf); the 2026 list remains in force through December 31, 2026. The relevant governing body can settle which rules apply to a competition.

A thigh and a quiet training hall: time outside competition still counts for athletes under these rules.

## A withdrawn request is not clearance

On [FDA’s page current as of April 22, 2026](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/certain-bulk-drug-substances-use-compounding-may-present-significant-safety-risks), BPC-157 and the TB-500 fragment are listed as nominated but withdrawn. In plain words, the groups that asked FDA to consider these ingredients for compounding took their requests back. Compounding means making a medicine by mixing or changing its ingredients.

They are no longer in that page's Category 2 table, the group flagged for significant safety risks. FDA still prints its safety concerns beside them. Withdrawal does not mean clearance, a move to Category 1 or approval for compounding. Category 1 is a separate group under review, not an approval either.

For the July 2026 review, [FDA staff proposed against adding BPC-157](https://www.fda.gov/media/193343/download)
to the permitted compounding-ingredient list, and [proposed against adding TB-500](https://www.fda.gov/media/193349/download). That's a staff recommendation, not a committee vote or final rule. FDA gives no date for either substance’s move to the withdrawn table.

## An appointment is for an assessment

A licensed clinician can assess an injury and discuss lawful care. That is not a promise of a BPC-157 or TB-500 prescription.

## Bring the injury into the conversation

I'd bring the task that matters: stairs, lifting at work or returning to a sport. A licensed U.S. clinician can assess the problem and discuss lawful care, including FDA-approved options where they exist. [Compounded medicines are not FDA-approved](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/understanding-risks-compounded-drugs).

For TB-500 injections, [FDA identifies germs, bacterial toxins and stray particles as safety concerns](https://www.fda.gov/media/193349/download). A high purity figure cannot settle those questions.

[Medical-board model guidance holds remote care to the same standard as care in person](https://www.fsmb.org/siteassets/advocacy/policies/fsmb-workgroup-on-telemedicineapril-2022-final.pdf), including arranging an examination or tests when needed. Telehealth does not change which ingredients may be compounded. This is general information, not medical or legal advice.

I keep this a guide to muscle-repair claims, not a clinic, pharmacy or seller.
